Abstract

Dalianru, P. D. (2024). InterculturalCommunicative Competence and L2 Willingness toCommunicate of Non-English Major University Students: A Correlational Study (UnpublishedUndergraduate Thesis). Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana: Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Previous studies rarely examined thecorrelation between Intercultural Communicative Competence and Willingness to Communicate. This study aims to discover those two variables among university students in Indonesia. This quantitative study used a questionnaire to discover students’ level of Intercultural Communicative Competence and Willingness to Communicate. Non-English major University took a part of this study. According to the data collected it is found that the level of ICC that caused by the accumulation of four dimensions that affectedICC. The results are 1) student’s attitude dimensions is high, 2) student’s knowledge dimension is moderate, and 3) student’s awareness is moderatehigh, and4)student’sskills dimensionsis low. Alsofor WTC,accordingtothe data collected it is foundthat the level of WTC that caused by the accumulation of four factors The results are 1) student’s proficiency factor is moderate, 2) student’s motivation is moderate, 3) student’s SPCC is moderate, and4) student’s skill is low. This study benefits for the education scheme, it helps the policy makers to realize that cultural aspect is important, add cultural aspect in language and teaching learning. Then, for the school and teachers also enhance the learning so that can keep up with the changes that can beimplicates from the school stage.
